On Sunday, 24 August 2025, the Durban beachfront will come alive with purpose and unity as participants gather at the Suncoast Lawns for the highly anticipated Eye Can Walk. This annual event, hosted in collaboration with the KwaZulu-Natal Blind & Deaf Society and the Newlands Athletics Club, is more than just a walk – it is a movement dedicated to inclusion, awareness, and community well-being.
A Walk That Makes a Difference
The Eye Can Walk is designed to highlight the challenges faced by individuals living with visual and hearing impairments while celebrating their resilience and strength. Each step taken on the day represents a stride towards a more inclusive and compassionate society.
Participants will have the option to join either the 10km walk (R180) or the 5km walk (R100), with both routes starting at 08h00. For those requiring it, a temporary license is available at R60. Entries can be purchased conveniently via Webtickets or at Pick n Pay outlets.
What Awaits Participants
The event promises an inspiring morning for families, corporates, and community groups alike. Every participant will receive a free event T-shirt and a finisher’s medal as a token of appreciation. Beyond the physical challenge, the day is about camaraderie, awareness, and supporting a worthy cause.
Corporate and Community Support
The success of Eye Can Walk is made possible through the generous support of partners and sponsors who share the vision of building stronger, healthier communities. Among the key supporters are Rising Sun Newspapers, Discovery Vitality, NMI, Hindvani, aQuellé, JMV Textiles, East Coast Radio, Lotus FM, Nkosi Eyakhe, and the eThekwini Municipality, whose contributions ensure that the event continues to grow each year.
Their involvement underscores the importance of corporate social responsibility and the role businesses play in driving positive change within our communities.
An Open Invitation
We extend a warm invitation to individuals, families, corporates, and community organisations to join us at Eye Can Walk 2025. Whether you walk for health, for solidarity, or simply for enjoyment, your participation will help shine a light on the importance of inclusion and accessibility.
Together, let us take strides towards a brighter, more compassionate future – because Eye Can Walk, and so can you.
